Basic Elements of
English Grammar
Studying English grammar seems to be a little complex sometimes;
however, this blog is aimed at helping you, the student, to understand the very
basic of tense formation and other elements to improve your skills.
Parts of Speech
It is a common believe in traditional grammar that whenever we
speak we need a set of elements to express our ideas; these elements are called
Parts of Speech. This categorization of words is based on eight elements: the
noun, the pronoun, the verb, the adjective, the adverb, the preposition, the
conjunction, and the interjection.
Each part of speech explains not what the word is, but how the
word is used. In fact, the same word can be a noun in one sentence and a verb
or an adjective in the next. In the case of what matters to us at this point we
will only work with some of them right now.
